NGK's Y4002J is the metal glow plug for the Ford 6.0L Power Stroke V8 found in Super Duty trucks, the Excursion and E-Series vans. Weak or failed glow plugs on a 6.0L show up as extended cranking, rough running and heavy white smoke on a cold morning, and because the plugs sit under the valve covers most owners replace all eight at the same time.

Check your engine build date before ordering. Ford revised the 6.0L piston bowl during the 2004 model year and shortened the glow plug to suit. Engines built before the autumn 2003 cutoff take the earlier, longer plug; engines built after it take the shorter plug. Published cutoff dates vary between September 22 and September 29, 2003, and it is the engine build date that governs, not the vehicle assembly date. Fitting a longer early-style plug into a late engine can allow the plug to contact the piston and cause severe engine damage. This part measures 120 mm overall and is cataloged from 2004 onward. If you have a 2003 truck, or a 2004 truck built before the cutoff, confirm your engine build date before ordering.
