Fuel Sumps & Suction Tubes
Fuel sumps and suction tubes improve how fuel is drawn from the tank to the lift pump. The factory pickup on many diesel trucks can pull in air when fuel sloshes or runs low, which starves the fuel system and can damage the injection pump. A sump or suction tube gives the lift pump a steady supply from the bottom of the tank.
This collection includes sump kits from FASS, BD Diesel, PPE, Sinister Diesel and Fuelab that install in the bottom of the tank, suction tube kits from FASS that work with the factory fuel module, fuel cell pickups from Aeromotive, and fuel system protection kits from VIN Specific Engineering. Most are designed to work with an aftermarket lift pump.
A sump requires drilling the bottom of the tank, so it is easiest to install with the tank removed and empty. A suction tube can often be installed without cutting the tank. Either way, follow the instructions closely and use the supplied hardware to get a good seal.
