Glow Plugs

Diesel engines rely on compression heat to ignite fuel, and in cold weather the engine needs help getting hot enough to start. Glow plugs heat the combustion chamber before and during cranking, so when one or more fail, you get hard cold starts, rough running and white smoke until the engine warms up.

This collection includes glow plugs from Bosch, NGK, Alliant Power, Delphi and D&W for Power Stroke 7.3L and 6.0L engines and other diesels, including small industrial and equipment engines like Kubota and Yanmar. We also carry glow plug harnesses from Mishimoto for the 7.3L and 6.0L Power Stroke, where the factory harness often wears out, along with glow plug relays and related parts.

On many engines, it makes sense to replace all glow plugs at once, since they wear at a similar rate. Take care when removing old plugs, especially on engines with high miles, because a stuck plug can break off in the head. Letting the engine warm up and using penetrating oil helps.
