Coolant Filters
A coolant filter catches the casting sand, debris and sediment that circulate in a diesel's cooling system. On some engines, that debris clogs the oil cooler and EGR cooler, which can lead to expensive failures. A coolant filtration kit keeps the coolant clean and gives you a way to see what is moving through the system.
This collection includes coolant filtration kits from Mishimoto for the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Stroke, which are the engines best known for oil cooler and EGR cooler clogging, available in several finishes. We also carry coolant filter systems from Sinister Diesel and BD Diesel, including kits that combine a filter with an upgraded cooler.
After installing a coolant filter on an older truck, check and change the filter element more often at first, since it will catch years of buildup. A coolant flush before installation helps too. These kits are a smart addition when replacing an oil cooler, so the new cooler does not clog the same way the old one did.
