NGK's CZ104 is a ceramic glow plug built on the company's NHTC (New High Temperature Ceramic) design, used on Volkswagen TDI applications that run a low-voltage quick-glow system. Instead of a metal sheath over a coil, the heating element is silicon nitride ceramic encased in a ceramic insulator, which lets it come up to temperature far faster than a conventional metal plug and hold a long afterglow.
