Holset 4033639 New Turbocharger. Holset HX55 series. Application: ID21, HX55. This is a fixed-geometry / wastegated Holset charger, where a wastegate bypasses exhaust flow around the turbine to cap boost once the target is reached. Shaft play, worn journal bearings, oil leakage past the seals or a damaged compressor wheel present as low boost, blue smoke, whistling and rising exhaust temperature. Holset has been the original-equipment turbocharger supplier to Cummins and other heavy-duty diesel manufacturers since the 1950s, and genuine Holset units are built to the same drawing, materials and balance specification as the turbocharger the engine left the factory with. Fitting a genuine Holset charger restores factory boost response, drive pressure and exhaust temperature control without the fitment guesswork that comes with will-fit replacements.
