As injection pump flow goes up, so do the torsional and thrust loads carried by the camshaft and its mating surfaces — which is exactly where the factory cast thrust plate starts to become the weak point on a modified P7100 build. This bronze retainer matches OEM dimensions while improving oil retention at the gear and thrust plate.
