The steel version of Hamilton's 178/208 towing grind, for builds where a cast core is no longer the right choice. Duration is 178 degrees intake and 208 exhaust at .050 inch on a 110-degree lobe separation angle, with .310 inch and .320 inch lift. The profile favors low-end torque and turbo spool, pulling strongly to about 4,000 RPM.

Installation Requirements
- Steel tappets are required
- The block must be machined for cam bushings; running a steel cam directly in a cast iron tunnel will damage the block
- Verify piston-to-valve clearance during assembly regardless of advertised drop-in compatibility
- Hamilton Cams warranties camshafts only when installed with Hamilton Cams tappets and valve springs.
Break-In and Oil
Flat-tappet valvetrains require 15W-40 oil with adequate zinc, phosphorus and molybdenum (5W-40 in sub-zero conditions). Approved oils include Valvoline, Schaeffer's, Mobil Delvac Extreme, LIQUI MOLY Touring High Tech, Driven Racing Oil and Shell Rotella.
