MAHLE 302-0451 is sold as an individual second compression ring sized for 4.680in bore with a .043in cross section. It is built from PC479 hardened ductile iron.
Key Features
- Second ring duty is roughly 80% oil control and up to 20% compression control
- PC479 is a hardened high strength nodular iron. The extra hardening process lets the ring run against most bore surfaces without an additional face coating, which is why MAHLE uses it in power adder applications that exceed what a conventional face-coated ring will tolerate.
- The reverse-twist taper faced design uses an inside bevel to create torsional twist, which limits oil migration up behind the ring while the taper face scrapes the cylinder wall.
