The turbo downpipe is the first thing the exhaust sees after the turbocharger, and the factory piece on an LB7 is one of the more restrictive parts of the system. MagnaFlow's 15398 replaces it with 3in mandrel-bent stainless.
It uses the OE break locations, so it goes in without cutting the rest of the exhaust apart. Stainless construction means it will not rot out the way a coated steel pipe does in that heat.
Worth flagging: this part is sometimes advertised as a 4in pipe. MagnaFlow's own data says 3in. Year coverage is also listed as 2001-2005 by some retailers and 2001-2004 LB7 by diesel specialists.
