Holset 5550059H Turbocharger Speed Sensor Kit. The turbo speed sensor reports shaft speed to the ECM so it can hold the charger inside its safe operating map and protect against overspeed, which is a real risk on variable geometry chargers at altitude or with added fuel. A failed sensor typically triggers a derate along with turbo speed fault codes. Holset has been the original-equipment turbocharger supplier to Cummins and other heavy-duty diesel manufacturers since the 1950s, and genuine Holset units are built to the same drawing, materials and balance specification as the turbocharger the engine left the factory with.
