The .020-over version of Hamilton's 6.7L fire ring head gasket. The added thickness over the standard gasket is the usual route to recovering piston-to-valve clearance when a performance camshaft will not quite drop in, while retaining fire ring sealing for high cylinder pressure.
Key Features
- .020 inch oversize thickness
- Fire ring construction for combustion sealing under high boost
- Commonly used to regain piston-to-valve clearance during a camshaft install
Fitment
- 2007.5-2018 Dodge and Ram 6.7L Cummins 24-valve
Machining and Installation
- High-strength studs are required to achieve proper clamp load
- Cylinder head must be within .003 inch end to end; machining both head and block is best practice
- If the block is not surfaced, clean the deck with a 320 grit or finer stone
- Always use a .120 inch radiused cutter for groove formation
- Torque to 130 ft-lbs at startup, hot retorque at operating temperature, then retorque again before applying full load or RPM
- Each retorque reduces valve lash, so readjust as needed
- Never exceed the fastener manufacturer's torque limits
