The factory inlet metering valve screen is the quiet failure point in a diesel fuel system — it blocks, flow drops, and the pump starves. The Exergy 04-07 Cummins 5.9L Inlet Metering Valve (store SKU xrgE05 20005) replaces it on the Cummins 5.9L.
- Replaces the factory inlet screen arrangement, which is the part that blocks and starves the pump as the fuel system ages.
- Cheap insurance relative to the pump it protects — the failure it prevents is an expensive one.
- Application-specific to the Cummins 5.9L fuel system rather than a universal part, so check the Fits line below against your own truck before ordering.
Fits: 2004-2007 Dodge Ram 2500 and Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9L Cummins 24V (late build). The 2004 split is mid-year: earlier-2004 trucks are the early build and take the 03-04 part instead.
