On a new build, prime the oil pump with assembly lube and prime the filter. Disconnect fuel and crank until oil pressure registers or oil reaches the rocker arms. Never let the engine start without oil pressure. Once running, hold 1,200-1,500 RPM for five minutes, shut down, then set valve lash.
